In reality, she wants to help her customers take advantage of an underused feature of her state’s tax forms that allows them to get financial assistance for health insurance. Avellaneda said she wants people to avoid the financial risk of a medical emergency: “I have health insurance right now, and I feel very, very peaceful. So I want my community to know that.”The process is simple: By checking a box, taxpayers trigger a “qualifying event,” enabling them to sign up for insurance outside the traditional open enrollment period and access subsidies that can bring the cost of that insurance down, if their income is low enough. A homicide investigation is underway Tuesday after a shooting on St. Paul’s Greater East Side. Two people died, according to police.Investigators are working in the 1400 block of East Minnehaha Avenue in the Lincoln Park Parkway/Greenbrier neighborhood.Police did not immediately release more information about the circumstances and said they plan to later today. This is a one-day, statewide initiative that will feature nine simultaneous gun buyback events across New York. Jessie James Decker is slamming United Airlines after an incident involving her pregnant sister and spilled popcorn. Decker posted the account in a since-deleted Instagram story. The singer said her five-month-pregnant sister, Sydney Rae Bass, was traveling alone with her two young children when one of them accidentally spilled some popcorn.
